How to meet everyone at once...
The main problem with our normal meet-ups is that they're localised, and so you tend to see a lot of the same people every time. UKMG regulars span every corner of the UK and several even further-flung places, so once upon a time, a plan was hatched.
The first National PU, organised with enviable efficiency by Andrew Sinclair and Julian May, took place in November 2001, at the Mabs Cross hotel in Wigan (which was calculated to be the most central point of the newsgroup's geographical spread). A year later, at the same venue, we did it again. Both events were so hugely successful, we decided to do it again...
After the Mabs Cross closed down, we spent two years in the pleasant surroundings of Albrighton, Shropshire, but now seem to have outgrown the facilities there. An ill-fated move to Telford (where the 2007 National was derailed by knuckle-dragging locals) means that we've moved again! In November 2008, the National will be held in Buxton... please enquire on the newsgroup for password access to the official National site.
